Oil and Gas Case Study

The Challenge

Navigating Complexities Around Constant Monitoring Of A Global Fleet

Our client is a leading global oil and gas company with more than 5,000 trucks transporting high-value, client-owned equipment around the world. Continual monitoring of trucks and drivers was key to mitigating the risk of accidents and delays that could not only impact business performance but cost lives.

However, delivering seamless, real-time global tracking was no easy feat. The company struggled with the complexities of continuously monitoring drivers to ensure they took scheduled breaks and remained on the right route.

The task was made more difficult by the fact our client’s workforce spanned 80 different nationalities that spoke more than 15 languages. There were also four disparate systems that needed to work together to trace drivers’ location and routes.

The Outcome

Integrated Intelligence Across The Entire Journey

Chosen for our 37+ years of experience, we combined our deep domain expertise and proven optimization capabilities, with both proprietary and partnered tools and platforms, to meet our client’s modernization challenge.

Leveraging our hundreds of unique inventions and patents across AI and other critical technologies, we designed a unique Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution for the client. Tailored to their DNA, this CRM became the modern, centralized hub for our client’s existing disparate systems.

Capabilities included more efficient planning of driver routes and scheduling, as well as consolidating trip data into one dashboard for a holistic view that enabled real-time decision-making.

We also combined intelligent automation and advanced analytics to help improve health and safety. By being able to identify accident trends and formulate corrective action plans, our client could monitor factors such as harsh braking and speeding – and reward drivers for compliant trips.

Further automation use cases such as tracking the starting and ending of trips allowed our client to not only reduce the cost of monitoring, but improve the driver experience through lowering the number of touchpoints they need to complete. That’s digital performance unlocked and measurable results delivered!
